Michael Tibbs presented on “Insider Tips From An Auditor’s Perspective – How To Improve Your Utility’s NERC CIP Audit Results Through Preparation.”
March 30, 2010 – RMEL NERC Roundtable – Denver, Colorado
This roundtable was a RMEL member forum dedicated to discussing NERC compliance and audit issues. The morning included a case study presentation of a utility’s NERC compliance and audit experience and was followed by Michael Tibbs of Corporate Risk Solutions presenting on Insider Tips from an Auditor’s Perspective, which enabled those executives in charge of their NERC CIP Compliance programs to learn about what to expect during an actual NERC CIP Audit. Michael’s presentation helped those utilities in attendance to recognize specific areas to improve upon prior to an actual NERC CIP Audit in order to reduce the number of potential audit findings. Included in this presentation were discussions on NERC CIP Compliance Program implementation, documentation, management commitment and abilities, and preparing RSAW’s with evidence. Additionally, Michael discussed how to prepare SMEs for an Audit, which included testimony techniques and evidence presentation during the Audit.
After these presentations, the roundtable focused on open discussion and provided each attendee the opportunity for participation and dialogue on their particular NERC issue, experiences or questions.
