Michael W. Tibbs joined Corporate Risk Solutions as Vice President – Operations and Senior Managing Consultant on September 10, 2001. He is responsible for managing our team of expert consultants in assisting our clients with implementing comprehensive security programs, focusing primarily on those industries considered to be the nation’s critical infrastructure.
Prior to joining Corporate Risk Solutions, Mr. Tibbs enjoyed a highly successful 28-year career with one of the world’s largest international security, consulting and investigations firms. Starting as an Investigator, he was promoted “through the ranks” to hold numerous senior-level management positions including District Manager, Regional Director of Sales, Regional Manager of Investigations and Director of Client Relations.
Throughout his career, Mr. Tibbs has managed security programs for hundreds of clients, many of the Fortune 100, including the nation’s leading auto manufacturer, one of the top three telecommunications companies, numerous electric, natural gas, and water treatment utilities, hospitals, high-rise office buildings, college campuses, retail distribution centers, apartment complexes, stores, railroads, trucking companies and manufacturing plants.
Working closely with his clients’ Legal, Human Resources, Facilities, IT, Operations and Security departments, he provided comprehensive services including Security Force Management, Risk and Vulnerability Assessments, Needs Assessments, development and implementation of Security Strategic Plans, Policies and Procedures, Security and Life Safety Training Programs, Business Continuity Planning, Security Compliance for NERC UA 1200 & CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, GLB, Hazmat and other regulatory requirements, as well as Design and Project Management for the installation of holistic electronic security systems.
Mr. Tibbs has testified as an Expert Witness on premises liability. He also manages his clients’ most sensitive investigations including Ethics and Compliance, Intellectual Property Protection, Due Diligence for Mergers and Acquisitions, Fraud and Title VII cases.
Mr. Tibbs has 34 years of private security and investigations experience, is a Certified Protection Professional from ASIS International where he is also recognized for his long-term service as member of their elite Quarter Century Club. He is a Certified Security Project Manager from the Security Industry Association. He has achieved his certification in Risk Assessment Methodologies from Sandia National Laboratories.
In additional to his attendance at several national seminars and industry trade shows each year, Mr. Tibbs has completed formal courses of study in Video System Design and A&E Video System Design through the Video Security Institute, and the Executive Protection Course from ASIS International and is a graduate of Pinkerton’s Security Survey School. Additionally, he is trained in CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) concepts.
The consulting team lead by Mr. Tibbs has been featured in several security magazines to include: Pinkerton’s Solution Magazine - Issue 3, 2000; Security Technology & Design - January 2006; Access Control & Security Systems – November 2005; and CXO Magazine – Spring 2006.
Being heavily involved in community activities and several industry associations, Mr. Tibbs has donated his time to be a guest speaker for such organizations as the Society for Human Resource Management, the Legal Administrators Association, the Kansas City Paralegal Association, the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America, the Kansas Association of Licensed Investigators and the Rocky Mountain Electric League. He served as Membership Chairman for the Kansas City Chapter of ASIS International, and is a member of the FBI’s InfraGard.
Mr. Tibbs is a licensed Private Investigator in several Midwest states. He has testified before the state legislatures in Wisconsin and Missouri on pending bills relating to private security and investigation licensing. He served for nine years as a contract security and investigations representative on the Private Security Advisory Council for Kansas City, Missouri; is a security content Technical Review Advisor for a leading national publishing company; and has served in an advisory capacity for the Security Training Program at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri.
